Welcome to book / art / love!
Thanks for reading! My name is Tomika and I’m writing this blog to share my passion for books, the arts, and everything in-between.
My goal is to post something once a week by Sunday/Monday. Temporarily have to put my blog on hold for a few months. I might still post sporadically but personal priorities have shifted slightly. I’ll share more when I’m ready.
I’ve studied studio art and psychology in college and work part-time as an art therapist. Some time in 2008 I fell in LOVE with bookbinding and now take any opportunity to level up my skills with paper, glue, and board. I fell down this particular rabbit hole after seeing a book by Esther K. Smith called How to Make Books at MOMA’s bookstore in New York.
What’s your book-related love of choice? Please introduce yourself in the comments; I would love to get to know others who enjoy the same interests I do as well.
Other life influences, besides family & friends, in no particular order:
Hayao Miyazaki’s/Studio Ghibli’s animated films – if you ever want to cry buckets, watch Grave of the Fireflies
My local and school libraries during childhood
The Star Trek series – DS9 is my favorite series; never saw Enterprise; favorite actor/captain is Patrick Stewart.
Art museums and galleries, especially those in NYC
